It’s almost that time again and preparations are in motion for the Nashville Chapter of Eta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc, to host the popular fundraiser ‘An Evening of Jazz’ on Sat., October 28, at East Alumni House from 6-9 pm. The tickets are a tax deductible $35 per person. Seating is limited. To maximize and better chart sales for this fundraiser, all tickets are being sold in advance and not at the door.
The Delta Omega chapter is presenting the event. They will also have an art show prepared by Robert Orr, Jr. There will be a live jazz band that we’ve enjoyed for the past three years. The purpose for this gala event is to offer scholarships to students to further their educations. Eta Phi Beta sorority supports many groups throughout the year.
For almost 75 years, Eta Phi Beta has provided services to improve the quality of life of individuals in many communities throughout the United States and the Virgin Islands.
Some of those areas of service include: services for citizens with intellectual and developmental disabilities; programs to assist business and professional women; various career awareness programs; services for children; breast cancer prevention and awareness; community service projects; volunteer services; domestic violence prevention; and of course, the scholarship programs, such as ‘An Evening of Jazz.’
They are always looking to recruit new members and continue to make a variable difference overall. Becoming a member of Eta Phi Beta is a privilege. The colors are red and gold, worn proudly by their confirmed members. Membership is granted to women in accordance with the purpose and objective of the sorority; therefore, all candidates are required to be a high school graduate, and have completed two years of post secondary study, at a two year or four year accredited certified academic institution.
All candidates will be required to show proof of 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours or an Associate’s degree. All candidates will submit with the application a verification of college credits via their transcript. The sorority is recognized nationally and internationally, existing to enhance their lives and the lives of others in the interim.
The Nashville Chapter production ‘An Evening of Jazz’ may be ‘just what the doctor ordered’—an evening of fun, refreshments, networking and socialization with some of the foremost earth angels in the mid-state and beyond.
