Expressions of Faith: Your weekly meditation

His delight is in the law of the Lord: and in His law he meditates day and night, Psalm 1:2.

Have you ever stopped at a small business about noon and found the door locked? Then you saw a notice on the door: “Out for lunch—back at 1 pm.” Despite the inconvenience, at least you understood. But suppose the sign said, “Out for meditation—back at 1 pm.” Would you understand then?

Meditation on God’s word is healthy and vital for Christian living. God is looking for you to take some time out of your busy day and spend it with Him.

“Abide in me and I in you,” John 15:4.

So why do we readily understand when a man takes time to feed his body in the middle of the day, while we are surprised if he takes time to feed his soul and spirit? Which part of us is most important?

“Flesh and blood cannot inherit God’s kingdom,” 1 Corinthians 15:50.

We understand lunch breaks better then meditation breaks because we are accustomed to the secular values of the world around us.

People pursue education in order to earn income that will enable them to rise in this world. Many try to live as long as possible in the present world, because they have no hope for the future. They consume all their time in pursuing things of this world.

As Christians, we belong to the kingdom of God: “You are not your own: for you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20.

Let’s make sure that we, as citizens of the kingdom of God, meditate daily on His word. Ten to 15 minutes each day will keep you strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

Those who meditate on the word of God will live a life of peace and prosperity.
