Volunteers with the Middle Tennessee chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, will gather on Saturday, December 9, from 3-5 pm, to honor the five-year mark of the Sandy Hook School shooting, which took the lives of 20 children and six educators. The event will take place at Lee Chapel AME Church, 1200 D.B. Todd Blvd, Nashville, 37208.

They will also honor the 94 Davidson County citizens who died in shootings in 2017 by reading their names aloud.
Representatives from the Mayor’s Office, the office of Rep. Jim Cooper, faith communities, the domestic violence community and survivor groups will participate in the reading of the names.

Following the service, local artists will lead attendees in creating Care Cards that will be mailed to gun violence survivors across the nation. This event is one of more than 200 across the country commemorating the Sandy Hook five-year mark and asking lawmakers to do more to #EndGunViolence.

In the five years since Sandy Hook, Moms Demand Action volunteers, along with survivors of gun violence and other gun violence prevention advocates, have fought hard (and successfully) to change America’s lax gun laws.
