It is good to emulate positive role models. It is good to learn from great leaders. It is good to aspire, learn, improve, and grow. It is best when you know your own self-value. Never position yourself to be bigger than you are, because the branch is never bigger than the tree. Don’t try to be someone you are not. A little humility goes a long way. James 4:10 says: “Humble yourself before the Lord, and He will lift you up.”
As a Christian one should take simple steps each day that represent your relationship with God. Each week the Christian is taught to go out and train. We are to impart the Word of God into the lives of others to guarantee a high return on a God sized impartation. The simple step of being a great Christian is to be open minded and positive for daily learning. There are new opportunities and new experiences that the Christian (believer) will encounter each day. A good Christian knows that the best people are learners, and learners gravitate to teachers. Teachers learn what they teach. Great Christians practice what they learn.
The army trains consistently. The fire department trains consistently. Athletes train consistently. Musicians and entertainers train consistently. Pastors and members should also train consistently. Ten minutes a day in training is about 2,400 minutes a year or 40 hours. Forty hours is equivalent to one or more college course credits. “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly divid-ing the word of truth,” 2 Timothy 2:15.
When you are under the covering of a great pastor, people will be assigned to leadership posts. Everyone makes mistakes, but Christians are not to make mistakes on purpose. As a believer you should want to do well and live a life that is pleasing to God that will win over others. Mistakes spawn learning and personal growth. Mistakes can be painful, and the lesson learned can be dreadful. A good leader keeps it simple for the saint. For he or she will not let anyone face the firing squad alone. A great leader will not sacrifice someone to save themselves. “For what shall it profit a man, if he should gain the whole world, and lose his own soul; And what shall a man give in exchange for his soul,” Mark 8:36-37.
Treat people the way you would wish to be treated. People understand reality. Treat people with dignity, even the most difficult people. Treat them with the upmost respect and kindness. The responsibility of the leader and the member is to win over one soul at a time for the body of Christ. This is the simple step for building a great relationship with God and one another.
“Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven,” Matthew 5:14-16.
