A Baby Changes Everything
‘New Spirit! & Friends’ present a Christmas Cantata

New Spirit! & Friends

‘New Spirit! & Friends’ will gather once again during the holiday season at St. John AME Church, 1822 Formosa Street at 5 pm to perform a Christmas Cantata. A Baby Changes Everything is an arrangement by Clydesdale that will tell the story of Jesus’ birth through song and narration.

Paula Y. Holmes, founder and director asked: “In 2018, how many people will go to sleep on Christmas Eve never realizing their Savior is about to come? How many will awake on Christmas morning and not recognize the hope of eternity? A Baby Changes Everything reminds us of how God’s greatest gift to the world can still change the world!”

This cantata was performed at St. Luke CME Church on December 15. New Spirit & Friends are delighted to repeat this performance giving the public another opportunity to share in the spirit of Christmas and Jesus’ birth.

New Spirit & Friends is a vocal ensemble that began in the music ministry of one church and grew to include the larger Nashville community. The current membership includes former Fisk Jubilee Singers, TSU Meistersingers and a Hamptonian.

The repertoire includes sacred anthems, spirituals and gospel music.

“Our mission is to spread the message of God’s love through the presentation of cantatas during the Advent Christmas and Lenten/ Easter seasons,” Holmes said.

A Baby Changes Everything will be under the direction of Paula Y. Holmes and include M. Mercedes Lytle, pianist; Austin A. Venzen, flutist; Rip Patton, percussionist; and Lonnie Chandler, narrator.
