On Monday, at the Nashville Tomorrow headquarters, District 2 Councilman DeCosta Hastings announced his latest plan to continue to make District 2 the best place to live, work and play in the city.

For three years, Hastings has been delivering on his promise to bridge the north part of town to the prosperity of the rest of Nashville-this time, with an actual bridge that will connect Metro Center and Bordeaux to the rest of the city.

Hastings, who says he has been working for three years on the project, has had the help of an infrastructure committee for the last seven months to “look at what could help out with our growing congestion.”

Hastings unveiled the rendering of a signature bridge that will aid vehicle, rapid bus, and pedestrian traffic.

“The bridge will span the corridor coming from Metro Center to West Trinity Lane – going out to Briley Parkway for the connectivity, and to ease some of our traffic issues and growth here on north side of town,” he said.

The bridge will also provide access to greenways that are otherwise hard to get to.

According to Hastings, the bridge will be similar to the James Robertson Bridge that connects East Nashville to Downtown.

It will include four lanes for vehicles, bike lanes, and a walking path on both sides.

The project will utilize state and federal infrastructure dollars, with a portion of the funding going to renovate the nearby MLK Memorial Bridge.
