June 21 proclaimed ‘Make Music Day’

Make Music Nashville is a live, free musical celebration on June 21, the longest day of the year. Residents can enjoy and participate in concerts on streets, sidewalks, and parks across the city.

Make Music Nashville, the city’s largest DIY music festival, and its flagship event have been recognized by Metro Nashville Government in a proclamation released this week. Mayor David Briley has designated June 21 as Make Music Day and commends the organization for its work to bring free, outdoor performances, musical play-alongs, instrument giveaways and lessons to the Middle Tennessee region.

This year’s schedule features over 120 artists performing in 45 venues across Middle Tennessee. The organization will also donate more than 1,500 instruments and more than 2,000 music lessons to festival patrons, all free and open to the public.

Featured artists include the McCrary Sister, Bentley Caldwell, The Stolen Faces, Chatterbird, and many more. Featured venues include Jackalope Brewing Company’s Ranch, Gruhn Guitars, Plaza Mariachi, Fort Houston and more.

Play-along highlights this year include: 200-person marimba jam and giveaway at the Nashville Farmer’s Market, 400-person maraca jam and giveaway at Nashville International Airport, free voice lessons offered by the Nashville Barbershop Harmony Society, and more.
