Cooper launches local small businesses initiative

Mayor John Cooper has announced his plan to support local, small businesses throughout Nashville’s neighborhoods and provided a call to action for Nashvillians to shop in local neighborhoods during the upcoming holiday season.

Throughout the month of November, Cooper will visit local business owners to recognize their valuable contributions to neighborhoods, thank them for their efforts and investment, and to purchase goods.

“Nashville’s neighborhoods have some of the best local shops and restaurants in the Southeast. I will be spending time throughout the month of November visiting our local small businesses and I am challenging you to shop small as well.”

Cooper is launching this initiative to encourage Nashvillians to get out in their community, to shop and eat at local businesses. The more our community supports each other, the better the quality of life for Nashvillians will be in the long run. Throughout his small business plan, Mayor Cooper is also inviting the community to support local shops. He is asking that people show how they are supporting a local business in their neighborhood via social media.

“When you buy from a local store, you are supporting your neighborhood and jobs for your neighbors. When you shop local in Nashville, take a photo and post it with the hashtag #NashvilleShopsLocal. I’ll do the same.”
