‘Coneheads’ restaurant review

If you haven’t tried ‘Coneheads’ in East Nashville yet, what are you waiting for? They are officially open and ready for you to “consume mass quantities.” Located on 1315 Dickerson Pike, Coneheads is the latest opening in this wave of quirky restaurants we have going on in Nashville right now. It seems more and more that these businesses are attempting to appeal to our ever-growing city by using niche marketing. And let me tell you, I am here for it!

Coneheads is the place for not only chicken lovers, but anyone who appreciates good, flavorful food and a unique experience to match. Let’s just say if you’re one of those people who posts your meal before you eat it, this place is for you. Besides the fact that your meal can come in an actual waffle, there’s the atmosphere. Please check out the bathroom when you go. The artwork alone will have you sitting on the toilet for longer than you should. But no worries to my technology challenged friends. It’s not all about the aesthetics. The food actually tastes as good as it looks!

I think we can all agree that no matter how good the food is at an establishment, it is the service that keeps us coming back. As soon as I entered, I was greeted with a friendly face and bright smile. The service was genuine and actually very helpful, especilly since it was my first time there and I was a little confused about what I should order.

The person taking my order took his time explaining every single menu item to me and did the same with everyone else. You could tell he was informed about the menu items and actually listened to my preferences so as to come up with the perfect Conehead meal for me.

Coneheads offers their meals in the form of a waffle cone or a basket. You can choose between five sauces for your chicken filling or cauliflower filling and a plethora of side dishes either in separate containers or with ‘a cap’ on top of the actual cone. I ordered the chicken cone with one 24K sauce and one Triple Cs-Chipotle Ranch. After he described the ‘24K’ as a honey mustard sauce with a kick, I was sold! I personally love honey mustard and hearing that it had a little spice in it really peaked my interest.

When I bit into the juicy morsel of a chicken nugget, I instantly knew I should’ve doubled up on the 24K sauce. Don’t get me wrong, the Triple Cs was delicious too. But as I mentioned earlier, honey mustard is my favorite and it’s hard to come by a good honey mustard sauce these days. Triple C stands for cilantro, cucumber and chili, and it was by far my favorite. Apparently, it’s one of their most popular sauces next to the Rosemary Agave.

Don’t leave it to my taste buds though, get your fill of the Triple C, Rosemary Agave, 24K, White BBQ or Jam Sauce and find out for yourself.

Coneheads is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am till 9 pm and Sundays 11 am till 4 pm.
