A cough, a sneeze, an achy body—signs of a common cold are something that sounded simple nine months ago. Today, a cough, a sneeze, an achy body creates a reaction of guessing and wondering if a person (any person, whether familiar or stranger) is displaying signs of having COVID-19.
It was about the same time as the worldwide Coronavirus pandemic that Rev. Enoch Fuzz, pastor of Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. During the chronicling of his journey with this disease, it has also been a challenge to have people present during his occasional admissions into the hospital because only patients were allowed inside. Because of the nature and high level of contagion, it has been a challenge to have people into his home to assist and visit. Even with the aid of people wearing masks and using hand sanitizer as they enter, one can never be too careful. Yet, he receives abundant care from many individuals.
Rev. Fuzz remains under doctor’s care as he continue taking his cancer treatment medications along with other advise from his physicians. While he currently feels discomfort with back pain, he is no longer on 24-hour oxygen. Most of all, he remains in high spirits as is always encouraging other people and praising God! To know Rev. Fuzz is to know that he is never at a loss concerning his sense of humor. He often makes remarks that cause one to smile. Such an individual might shake their head and repeat his name in wonder at such thoughts from Fuzz. Nevertheless, those ‘crazy thoughts’ are very much welcome, because they are a light of joy. “I’d much rather see him making ‘off’ remarks than to see sadness in his eyes from discomfort caused by his ailments,” friends might say.
During is illness at this time of celebration in the Christmas season, Fuzz continues to bless other people with gifts and sharing his ministry in song. On December 16, Rev. Fuzz went Live on Facebook with his special rendition of the ’12 Days of Christmas.’ But no, in his version the “first day of Christmas’ true love” did not give a “partridge in a pear tree.” Fuzz sang: “On the first day of Christmas Jesus gave to me, victory… two shouting shoes, three praying preachers, four mighty missionaries, five songs to sing…” Then it gets better with all 12 days!
