Memphis State Representative Karen Camper has released a statement on the passing of trailblazing actress Cicely Tyson.  Camper, who the Tennessee House Minority Leader and the President of the National Organization of Black Elected Legislative (NOBEL) Women, praised the life and nobility of Tyson:

“Cicely Tyson was an inspiration to us all in her unmatched ability as an acclaimed actress and also how she lived her life and her devotion to social justice.  She particularly resonated in her portrayal of strong Black Southern Women.  From Sounder and the Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman to the Help and How to Get Away with Murder, the integrity, nobility and power of womanhood shined through.  She will be missed.”
