As this year ends and the New Year begins, there are many things that claim a focus. There were many things ‘done’ last year. Last week’s journey talked about being creative due to the necessity of change in the way the world operates because of the still looming pandemic. The year ends, but the pandemic has not ended. There are pictures to share that show activities allowing the giving of gifts to occur as always, yet in a different way. Some of those events included: General Hospital’s Secret Santa at Corinthian Baptist Church served 40 families; Hope Station partnered with Corinthian to adopt a Christmas family; and Toys for Tots and the Sickle Cell Foundation.
This is evident of the importance of ‘doing.’ In the new year, as he continues to share in his journey with stage four lung cancer, Rev. Enoch Fuzz, pastor of the Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, invites others to join as a new year’s message will be given by Rev. Ceesha Lofton. She encourages a different focus.
“I will share with you something that God has shared with me for the New Year,” said Rev. Lofton.” Focus more on being and not so much on doing because if you will just be the person God created you to be, you won’t have to work so hard to do what He has called you to do. The doing part will just come naturally as God works in you, on you and through you.”
God knows you best and if you have a relationship with God and don’t already know ‘who’ God wants you to be, meditation and prayers on that specific issue will be of the utmost importance in the coming year. While you’re praying for others, pray for yourself and the way that you may be encouraged to be who God wants you to be.
