Faith of A Mustard Seed

A study group aims to delve into the significance of the March on Washington, fostering active discussions and research on its influence on African American history and the broader social justice movement.

Barbara A. Woods Washington, M. Div.

A very important Thread experience of my faith, holding tightly since my first day in Seminary… The March on Washington, August 28, 1963.  I have long seen this AMERICAN EVENT as the most important collection of Americans organized and executed by the Descendants of this Nation’s African Slave Trade system. The complexities of it’s history, making and leaving footprints, are as an Onion: many, many Layers that have yet to be peeled back to reveal the very core at the Heart of THIS MATTER.

I have started a new Facebook Study Group: “The March on Washington, August 28, 1963”. ONE SINGLE Motivation and Methodology shall exist in this Group:  ‘Seeking TRUTH’ in this moment and space in America’s History; when unquestionable GREAT is carved in the Fiber, with a more authentic vision towards Making America GREAT AGAIN!   I continue to see, generation after generation of those of us born African in America, and feel the long road of injustice dealt to us as an American Community.  Even as the evolving group of new protest leaders rise up with the inability to make impact upon the ever changing, ever shifting means of the same demon of oppression.  Realities show through in looking at individuals who believe that “they have made it out”… looking back to see that “The Community” remains in a dire state of demise.

I remain amazed at the 200,000+ Americans (as history records the attendance) that day on the Washington, DC Mall of The Lincoln Monument.  Looking into the faces of, not just those that we can name, —but those yet unknown!  And so in spite of “This Dream” that American ‘narrative shapers’ have historically mastered for us… I now feel the urgency to ‘Sermon on The Mount’, as Jesus Did; to see this “Vision”, crushed to the ground… yet screaming TO RISE!

It is a Private Page!  Not for the faint of heart! The RULES of engagement as follows:

1. Only those committed to be ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS in this Group will remain. This is an opportunity for a greater understanding of this most important event in our life and times. It has been look at by individuals. Now, to present for ourselves, and potentially for the nation, the world and generations to come —a mission deferred. “My people are destroyed for lack of Knowledge” (The Ancient Texts). Knowledge is LIFE!

2. Respect everyone’s Truth.  Being a part of this group requires Authenticity. Expressive discussions make groups great, but is also sensitive as some will come into their personal life truth as a result of their study on this Subject. All posts shared in the group should remain in the group. “and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” (The Ancient Texts). Truth is (Emancipation) FREEdom!

3. This Group is Not a Battleground.  A simple respect for where people come from, whether you have any knowledge of their Path or not; gives us a broader knowledge of the many, the multi and the varied facets of life. We promote an environment of growth that enables every individual to express their thinking without fear nor threat. Your Posts & Comments should present YOUR research & study &  thinking, and not disagreement NOR attack on someone else’s thinking. Clarity on what YOU THINK, and maintaining and articulating YOUR line of thinking… is a skill.

4. Dialogue is Required here.  Unlike DEBATE, where someone wins and the other looses, DIALOGUE is the ‘exchange of ideas. Dialogue requires some real ‘grown folk’ skill: the ability to listen without the need to ‘take personally’ what someone else thinks and speaks. To commit to the discipline of ONE new POST each week is personal growth! Always, always join THE DIALOGUE wherever you go! With YOUR Knowledge & THINKING ON THE ISSUE, not on what you judge as negative in what someone else has spoken.

5. Takers will not be welcome.  To be ‘that one’ who only READS and LOOKS; never POSTING nor COMMENTING (nor a simple LIKE) will be unacceptable to this Group. To have your name listed on Post after Post as “Seen By” indicates your lack of commitment to the TOPIC and persons working to give Life to this Subject. If you are not a GIVER in this Group, please leave the Group or be removed. There is a far greater mission here than just numbers.

6. No Promotions nor Spam. Group Topic ONLY! We hope to have clear and free GROUP MEMBER POSTS and Comments without Admin Censorship. But this depends on Group Members. There will be no Self-Promoted matter here. No Non-Relevant nor Non-Related links. Think of this Group being a Historical Work for ultimate Publication with ALL MEMBERS credited as Editorial Contributors.

Yeah. That’s the ticket!
