“For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps,” 1 Peter 2:21.
Why is life’s purpose so important? Having purpose in life is one of the fundamental factors of life’s fulfillments. With purpose your life is guided with the right decision making. It influences behavior, shapes your goals, and gives you a sense of direction that will create meaning. This is the key in understanding God’s purpose for your life. God has set your life in His divine will that you must fulfill it in life’s journey.
“I cry out to God the Most High, to God who fulfills His purpose for me,” Psalm 57:2.
Purpose is connected to vocation. When purpose is connected to vocation you have a strong feeling to achieve goals without any hesitation. In other words, you are inspired by divinity to engage in life. When you take action and move forward, you do what needs to be done so you can enjoy life. When purpose is connected to vocation, you will have to respond to the call of God in your life. This call is beyond self and aims toward leadership. The call upon your life is in response to something beyond you and bigger than you. Purpose in life is the very meaning of your existence. Now you cannot fall prey to the illusion that your life does not matter—that you have no connection or impact within your life and on the life of others. We are living and engaged in life though the pathway of God.
“You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you may declare the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Which in time past you were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy,” 1 Peter 2:9-10.
We are joined into the priestly work of Christ as members of His body, reconciled to God. We are reconciled, restored in a right relationship to be divine with purpose and favor. So we have a perfect example that we should follow in His [Jesus’] steps. To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you that you would fulfill the purpose of your calling. In this day and hour, God is calling and counting on you. Jesus lived a perfect life to show us the way back to the Father. In His life on earth, He cared for all people. He welcomed all (Matthew 19:13-14).
He forgave those who crucified Him (Luke 23:34).
He healed the blind (John 9:1-12).
This is why we have Him as our perfect example. He never sinned. Jesus was obedient to God and He showed us that obedience is a requirement for everyone. To live for God is to love God and to do the will of Him that has sent you. At the age of 12 years old, Jesus was found teaching scholars in the temple (Luke 2:42-52).
His mission in coming to earth was to save us. He was willing to suffer and sacrifice His life to pay the price of our mistakes so that we could repent and be forgiven and restored back to the Father. When you are restored back to the Father you live a life that represents the God in you by living out these nine truths:
• You speak words of blessing over all people.
• You walk by faith each day.
• You are a grateful person unto God.
• You have a good prayer life.
• You serve all humanity.
• You keep your priorities straight.
• You strive for excellence each day.
• Your are reliable in all that you do.
• You ask God to make you a blessing.
Christ gives us a deeper meaning for life so we can explore our spiritual core and our spiritual empowerment. Your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, morals, and values cultivate growth in your spiritual core/life.
