Nashville’s burgeoning art scene has added two weekend art crawls this year. They are inspired by the phenomenal success of the First Saturday Downtown Art Crawl, now celebrating it’s tenth year. They also come on the heels of the successful copycat Wedgewood / Houston Art Crawl on the same weekend (don’t ask me why) and the East Side Art Stumble on the second weekend. So, lucky middle Tennesseans, we now have art crawls four weekends per month.

The Germantown Art Crawl is a new event that happens on the third Saturday of every month, running from 4pm to 9 pm. This is a plus, as the other crawls generally begin two hours later. Their next crawl is August 20th, 4-9pm. Jefferson Street Art Crawl is held on the fourth Saturdays, and on August 27, you can see and experience the best in modern art on the historic North Nashville Jefferson Street corridor.

Omari Booker spoke to the PRIDE about this month’s Jefferson Street Art Crawl, and he was willing to share a few main points. “Elishaba and Mike Mucker will be painting live at One Drop Ink, Woodcuts is hosting Ludie Amos’ closing reception that night and she will be in the Gallery discussing her work,’ Said Booker. “Donna Woodley will be at the Garden Brunch Cafe. Michael McBride, James Threalkill, Joe Love, and other up and comers will be showing there also. Thaxton Water’s Art History Class Lifestyle Lounge & Gallery has changed locations, and my work, Doughjoe, RJ, Thaxton’s and more will be shown there. 1305 Jefferson is the new Art History location.”

The Germantown Art Crawl is a new event that happens the third Saturday of every month from 4 to 9 pm. Next Crawl: August 20th, 4-9pm. Located in the heart of historic Germantown it brings new energy featuring local artists at 100 Taylor Arts Collective, Steadfast Coffee, Bits n Pieces and other surrounding businesses. Transportation is provided to each location involved.

This Saturday’s Germantown Art Crawl will be featuring art by Stephen Watkins, Sam Wade, Jonathan Stone, Mary Beth Felts, Anthony Billups, Jason Saffran, Michelle Farro, Blair Wheeler, Richard Sturtridge, Patrick Scott, Macon St. Hilaire, and Michael Lax, and many more. Custom made jewelry will be exhibited by Ever Alice.

“Nashville’s oldest neighborhood has an electric new vibe,” say the Germantown Art Crawl organizers. “Join us on the 3rd Saturday of each month to celebrate local art, local artists, local music, local businesses and local beer. We will have live music at Bearded Iris Brewery from 6pm to 9pm from James Ross, Kiely Schlesinger, Steve Barnett, and Tom Schreck.

Also, Nashville Burrito Company food truck will be set up outside of 100 Taylor. Transportation this month will be provided by Party Porch; Art lit by Nashville Event Lighting; and Sponsorships by Go West Creative, 312 Pizza Company, Tempered, Peyton’s Stakes, The Perfect Little Store, Wink Wink Paper Co, Rhyno Graphics, Billups Art and 100 Taylor Art Collective.”
