Talk of the Town host and NABJ event keynote speaker.
The Nashville Chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists is proud to present a signature event and fundraiser titled ‘Headliners and Heroes.’ This reception fundraiser provides scholarships for young people majoring in media professions.
The annual event will also recognize individuals in the media who have made outstanding achievements and contributions to the field of journalism and communications and those in the community who have readily carried the torch of justice and service to others. Leland Statom, News Channel 5 (WTVF) award winning chief meteorologist and Talk of the Town TV host will be the master of ceremonies for the evening.
This landmark event will take place from 4-6 pm on Sunday, Nov. 6, at the First Amendment Center, located at 1207 18th Ave. S. #200, Nashville. A wine and hors d’oeuvres reception will precede the program for attendees 21 and over.
The Nashville NABJ Chapter invites the public to help our next generation continue the powerful work of awarding scholarships to deserving and talented students pursuing degrees in communication, along with providing valuable mentoring and training opportunities through a network of professional communicators.
Everyone is invited to come out for a great cause, meet members of the media, and help the Nashville Chapter NABJ raise money to help college students. The Nashville Chapter of The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) is an organization of journalists, students and media-related professionals that provides quality programs and services to and advocates on behalf of Black journalists worldwide.
The NABJ is an advocacy group established in 1975 in Washington, D.C. and is still the largest organization for journalists of color in the nation. The 501(c)3 organization provides career development as well as educational and other support to its members worldwide. Headquartered in College Park Maryland, the group has chapters nationwide.
Tickets for the ‘Headliners and Heroes’ reception are $35, and everyone must have tickets to attend. Not able to attend yourself? No worries: there are also opportunities to purchase tickets for donation and sponsorship. All may be obtained via Eventbrite.
