Expressions of faith: God focus vs. man focus

Galatians 6:7 says: “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”

There is a natural law of reaping what you sow. If you begin to gossip, it is possible to harvest loss of friendships. If you do not sow (help) your pastor or teacher in ministry, you will harvest a deteriorating man/woman of God. The law of reaping applies both spiritually and physically.

Every action has results. If you plant merely to please your own desires (sowing in the flesh), you will reap a crop of evil. However, if you plant to please God, you will reap joy and everlasting life. Be mindful of the seeds you are sowing in the soil of your life.

In Galatians, we find that Paul is teaching the principle of focusing on God and not man. He urges them to not be deceived. The church at this time was being deceived from helping the pastor in doing the work of the ministry. They were stopping the works of God by not focusing on Him. Their reactions and responses did not hurt the man of God but was rather directed toward God. To help was to support God, and to not help was to not support God. God is not mocked! To be mocked means to be scornfully poked at. Many times, people will decide to deny the work of God because they see no benefit for themselves.

“For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting,” Galatians 6:8. When you sow good, you reap good. When you sow bad, you reap bad. The choices we make create reactions. The decision to break God’s commandment by not obeying Him only breaks us. We stop the movement of God in our own lives when we choose not to please Him.

God has gifted us with pastors after His own heart. “And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding,” Jeremiah 3:15. When God blesses you with a gift, you appreciate the pastor as the God-sized gift. It can be discouraging to pastors when you are continually living the life according to the word of God and receive no appreciation. Ask yourself this question: “Am I helping the man/woman of God because it is His will? Are you God focused or man focused?

Paul challenges the Galatians to keep doing what is right and trust God for the results. “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not,” Galatians 6:9. Be encouraged to continue doing a mighty work for the Kingdom of God. Maximize your work by focusing on God and allowing it to be shifted into dimensions. Don’t give up but keep moving forward, because the gift of sowing is that God will always provide a harvest. We have an obligation to ourselves and another one to stay God-focused and not man focused.
