Expressions of faith

The passage emphasizes the importance of moving forward in faith, leaving past fears behind, and pressing toward victory in Christ. It highlights that fear can hinder personal growth and that God has given believers strength, love, and a sound mind. The text encourages making clear, faith-based decisions by seeking God’s guidance and trusting in His divine plan. Through daily reflection and reliance on God, one can make choices that align with His purpose and lead to victory.

Bishop-Elect Dr. Monterey D. Lee, Sr.

“Brothers and sisters, I count not myself to have made [apprehended] it: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are ahead. I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus,” Philippians 3:13-14.

You must be focused on the race, the goal, and the finish line of your journey of faith. Forgetting what is behind, Paul looks forward towards his victory in Christ.

This is called a ‘victory lap.’ What have you done in your life that gives you the victory lap. What have you completed that says ‘victory’? If you’re living in the past, you will never have victory in your life.

Living in the past is fear, fear of what will come in the future, fear of moving ahead. Fear will stop you from developing into the person God wants you to be.

God dose not put fear in us!

“For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind,” 2 Timothy 1:7.

“Fear not, I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand,” Isaiah 41:10.

“Do not fear the king of Babylon, of whom you are afraid. Do not fear him, declares the LORD, for I am with you, to save you and to deliver you from his hand,” Jeremiah 42:11.

What you fear will catch up with you, what you fear will come to pass in your life. No fear!!

So, we are coming out of fear, and moving into the right state of mind—to victory!!

Identify your decisions and make them clear to you. Gather relevant information for daily improvement. Take action, choosing self first before everyone else. Ensure you are in a good state of mind.

It is important that you review your decisions each day and weigh them out so you can see the evidence of your decisions.

It’s important that you keep your eye on your God-given goals for an effective decision-making life. Remember your decisions will impact your life. How will you respond to your decision making?

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path,” Proverbs 3:5-6.

The first thing a Christian should do when making a decision is to ask God for advice and Godly counsel. God has a divine blueprint for your life. This is why we go to Him for guidance, so we will make the right choices for possibilities that will align most closely with His values for your life.

God has a plan for your life, and it does not change. God is mindful of your life and can give you effective decision making.
