Expressions of faith

The text emphasizes spiritual transformation through the Holy Spirit, renewing the mind, and developing Godly character. It highlights the process of becoming reformed in God's recreation and fulfilling His divine will.

Bishop-Elect Dr. Monterey D. Lee, Sr.

“People who are guided by the spirit can make all kinds of judgments, but they cannot be judged by others. When we are guided by the Holy Spirit, the Spirit peels away our old man and old ways, and replaces them with Godly characteristics,” 1 Corinthians 2:15.

Godly character, characteristics, and signs will release righteousness, integrity, hard-working discipline, the spirit of never giving up, love, steadfastness, faith and gentleness. The work of God in us makes us more and more one with Christ. The Holy Spirit empowers us to be effective in our witnessing, which includes a lifestyle that has transformed us from the old to the new person that we were created to be in God.

Transformation and transforming is being changed into another form—becoming a new person.

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your life, your body as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God. This is your true and proper way of worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is. His good, His pleasing, and perfect will as it is taking place in your life,” Romans 12: 1-2.

It is a total change by the renewing of the mind. You are not conforming, but transforming—being changed into a new creation. You are transformed. You take on a transformation from being deformed to being reformed in God’s recreation.

We once were deformed, disfigured and damaged. But we will become reformed, changed, redesigned, reworked, redone, rebuilt, and reconstructed in God.

You do not settle for less, because you are reconstructed for the work of the kingdom of God—and the kingdom of God only. Paul is telling the Christians in Corinth that when you are reformed by the Holy Spirit, you are given the ability to understand matters of this world and the divine matters of the kingdom of God. The people [Jews] desired more of God to understand spiritual things. Paul was making it known that in order to have more of God, you have to be the chosen of God. You are still young and growing in the faith, but God has chosen you. If you want more of God, live for God and to do the will of God. Stop looking to man and look to Him, because He is the giver of new life. You are the chosen of God.
