The Urban League Young Professionals of Middle Tennessee (ULYPMT) will be hosting the A.C.E. Leadership Conference on Saturday, June 15. The conference will provide young professionals the tools necessary to: 1) Advocate for advancement in leadership positions; 2) connect innovative ideas though effective communication; and 3) leave attendees empowered with the solutions to make a lasting impact.
“The development of young professional leaders is essential to the future prosperity of Middle Tennessee,” said ULYPMT President Darius Montgomery. “Therefore, the purpose of the conference is to prepare young professionals to be on the cutting edge of education, economic development, civic engagement and leadership.”
The list of distinguished speakers includes award winning multi-media journalist and Belmont University professor Dr. Sybril Bennett, who will discuss how to establish an online brand. Chris Winton with the world-renown Dale Carnegie Training organization will certify attendees in effective communication. ‘Expanding Your Influence’ is the title of the keynote address that will be delivered by motivational speaker Derek Young.
Attendees will also learn how to start their own business and how to take it to the next level. Nashville Next will provide insight into future opportunities and advise young professionals about how to market their skills to meet growing demands. Dr. Alicia Hall will give participants tangible steps to maintain their physical, mental and emotional health—because in the pursuit of excellence it’s often hard to create a healthy work/life balance.
“It is the desire of ULYPMT to create a spirit of innovation among young professionals that will serve as continued inspiration in the movement towards an improved Nashville/Middle Tennessee, nation and world,” said Montgomery.
Friday, June 14, ULYPMT will host a VIP reception to kick off the workshop weekend, in order to network with speakers, Urban League Board members and other invited guests who have made a notable influence in the community. The reception will be held at the Renaissance Hotel (On the Bridge) 611 Commerce Street, Nashville, Tenn. 37203 from 5:30-7 pm.
As Nashville continues to be thrust into the national spotlight from its designation as the new ‘It’ city by the New York Times to the filming of the ABC drama Nashville, the city is undergoing a new transformation.
“I want ULYPMT to start the campaign for young professionals to grow with the city,” said Montgomery, “because we are its future.”
The A.C.E. Leadership Conference is for professionals from diverse backgrounds, industries and levels of experience. Registration is required, at $50 for ULYPMT members and $70 for non-members.
