Salvation Army, Nashville Command, receives recognition

Kicking off the celebration of National Salvation Army Week, the Salvation Army- Nashville Area Command (TSA-NAC) was the featured charitable organization during the 2013 Waste Management/ Nashville Sounds Charity of the Night baseball game on May 11 held at Herschel Greer Stadium, located on 534 Chestnut Street.

The partnership with the Nashville Sounds will allow the Salvation Army, Nashville Area Command, to educate Sounds fans about the organization and its programs thus increasing the brand awareness.

“We are delighted to be a featured charitable organization during the Sounds game,” said Lt. Col. Charles White, TSA-NAC Area Commander.

“I am equally excited to chaperone some 40 kids from both our transition housing facility and the Magness-Potter Community Center programs. Some of these kids have never been to a baseball game and Saturday will be to some a first time experience!”

National Salvation Army Week was designated by President Dwight Eisenhower as a reminder to Americans to give freely of themselves.

During the anniversary, each Salvation Army center celebrates the volunteers, donors and program beneficiaries.
