The application process for public housing began August 15, and for the first time, applications will be accepted online only.

Jerry Seay, director of asset management for MDHA, said the move will provide applicants with a greater chance for securing housing than the current process, which requires housing candidates to submit applications at individual housing communities.

“Since this process puts each applicant into a pool for all available housing they qualify for, it’s possible to be on the wait list of every property, increasing their chance of getting housing,” said Seay. Additionally, “the convenience of the online application process means anyone interested can apply from their home or smart phone at any time of day or night.”

Those interested in applying for housing in a MDHA community may do so from any computer, private or public, including public library branches, through 4 pm Wednesday, August 21, when the application process closes.

Accommodations can be made available for persons with disabilities in the event they need assistance with the application process by calling 615-252-8599.
Seay said the process applies to all MDHA housing communities, including Family and Contemporary Housing communities, Senior-Only Housing (age 62 and older) and Senior and Disabled Housing.
