“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself,” (Matthew 6:34).
We as Americans are facing some real life issues and challenges today. With the government shutting down on October 1, and with Congress not meeting the physical budget, a lot of Americans are worried about their futures. But this too shall pass.
I’m sure that a lot of people’s faith is being challenged, and they are asking the question “where is God?” The answer is “He’s right here.” He says Joshua 1:5: “No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will not fail or forsake you.” We should find so much peace in this scripture.
There is nothing new under the sun. Our parents and grandparents endured the same things that we are also facing today, but they had even greater challenges such as slavery, racism, Depressions, housing discrimination, and school segregation. Did God not provided for them? Yes He did. And He will also provide and meet our needs as well. Psalms 56:4 says, “In God, whose word I praise, and in God I trust without a fear.” So if we trust Him, we don’t have to worry about the things that we are facing. “I was once young but now I am old,” Psalms 37:25. I’ve never seen the righteous begging for anything.
Are we going to be dictated about the things of this old world, or are we going to trust God? I must say that the future does look bleak right now. We don’t know what the future holds, but we know who holds our future.
America, it is truly praying time. If we ever need the Lord, we truly need Him now. Let us pray for our president, and the world leaders. Let us pray that Congress will do the right thing for our country. People are stressed and worried about their future, the futures of their loved ones and of this nation.
We, as Christians, can find hope in His promises to us. We ‘don’t have to worry.’ If you’re going to pray don’t worry—but if you worry, don’t pray. God is looking for people that will trust Him no matter what the situation or circumstance looks like.
