Since 2006, the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) has worked to ensure children in middle Tennessee have a brighter holiday. This year’s efforts proved to be the biggest year yet with more than 3,000 toys and $8,700 donated to Toys for Tots. Davidson County Sheriff Daron Hall has handed the toys over to the Marines.

“What we all need to realize during this time of year is that there are so many people out there who are less fortunate, and many of those are children,” Hall said. “Our employees start working on this project in September with our annual Toys for Tots motorcycle run and continued through this past weekend collecting toys at both the Predators and Titans games. Part of our mission statement includes community outreach. This is another way we live up to our mission.”

The 3,000 toys and money collected do not include last weekend’s public events. DCSO employees through personal donations, internal fundraisers, and other outreach were able to reach this milestone. In just seven years, DCSO’s partnership with the program has brought in 13,516 toys and nearly $47,000. According to the Toys for Tots website, since its inception in 1947 Marines have distributed nearly 500 million toys to over 200 million children.
