Million Dollar Quartet opens May 6 in TPAC’s Andrew Jackson Hall for eight performances for the limited, weeklong engagement of the touring production. Million Dollar Quartet is the Tony award-winning Broadway musical, inspired by the electrifying true story of the famed recording session that brought together rock ‘n’ roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time. This monumental event in musical history at the old Sun Records studio in Memphis is immortalized here in the music of these rock ‘n roll masters.
Also on May 6, the non-profit Tennessee Performing Arts Center will also be participating in ‘The Big Payback,’ a regional, 24-hour online giving event created to help middle Tennessee non-profits raise funds vital to their work.
The 24-hour campaign will begin on Tuesday, May 6 at 6 am. and end on Wednesday, May 7 at 6 am. During this time, supporters of arts education and TPAC’s mission can visit TPAC staff and volunteers will have a table set up in the lobby on opening night of Million Dollar Quartet for patrons and other supporters to participate in the Big Payback.
Gifts from the public will be boosted with funds from sponsors of The Big Payback, and TPAC will vie for financial incentives and additional prizes through an online leader board, which will track donations in real time.
This inaugural event to directly improve the Nashville community is sponsored by the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee and the Kharis Foundation.

TPAC Professional Intern Showcase: The Unseen
The Tennessee Repertoire Theatre Intern Program will also present its annual professional performance, the TPAC Professional Intern Showcase, at the Tennessee Rep Rehearsal Hall (NPT Studio A, 161 Rains Ave.) Written by Craig Wright, The Unseen is set for April 27–28, at 7 pm.
Imprisoned by a totalitarian regime and mercilessly tortured for unknown crimes, Wallace and Valdez live without hope of escape or release. When an enigmatic new prisoner arrives and begins communicating in code, both men develop new relationships to each other, their captors, and themselves. A darkly humorous examination of faith in an uncertain world, The Unseen premiered as part of The Humana Festival of New Plays at Actors Theatre of Louisville in 2007.
Tennessee Repertory Theatre’s Internship Program is designed to offer hands-on professional experience to students, graduates, and early career professionals who are pursuing a career in theatre. Interns are offered the opportunity to gain practical knowledge while working with experienced professionals in theatre arts and administration. The Professional Intern Showcase is selected, cast, directed, designed, constructed, and marketed by this season’s interns.
