The Tennessee State Tigers (6-6, 3-5) ended the year on a high note with a win on the road. The Big Blue up-ended conference rival Murray State (3-9,

1-7) in a kind of ‘blowout’ this past Saturday afternoon. Final score: 48-33.

Michael German lit it up again, throwing for 463 yards and six touchdowns. He ran for another. He also broke the school record for career passing yards with 8,664. “We had a ball,” said German.

German and Ryan Mitchell continued their WWE tag teaming for the second game in a row. Mitchell grabbed catches of 72, 59, and 15 yards, concluding with 10 catches for 231 yards. Weldon Garlington added four catches for 84 yards.

KD Humphries did what he could on the offensive side of the ball for the Racers, throwing for 467 yards and five touchdowns. Janawski Davis was his main target. Davis caught eight balls for 101 yards and two touchdowns.

However, the Racers’ defense didn’t have an answer for the Big Blue.

Both teams combined for over 1,100 total yards and 57 first downs. TSU scored the first 20 points of the game and took a 34-7 lead into halftime.

The Tigers played a little defense recording three interceptions and a fumble. They also got to Racer quarterback KD Humphries recording eight sacks.

The Tigers end the year with their third straight non-losing season. No playoffs this year, but the Big Blue have high hopes for the juniors who will now become seniors, and for the rest of the guys moving forward into the spring and next season.
