Grammy award winning artist Anthony Hamilton is slated to appear at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville on December 8 at 7:30 pm. Certain to be a holiday treat, Hamilton’s mere presence will probably guarantee a packed house. His unhurried voice conveys passion and pain with a rich, smoky soulfulness that echoes his influences.
Anthony’s first Christmas album, Home For The Holidays, is now available. The 14-track album includes original songs and covers of holiday favorites, plus features from Grammy Award winner Chaka Khan, Grammy nominated Gavin DeGraw and singer-songwriter maven ZZ Ward.
A sultry delight from start to finish, Hamilton successfully creates his own universe. Hamilton’s delivery feels fresh and new every time he performs. His pieces unfold at a leisurely pace. In a nutshell, Hamilton’s voice just keeps getting better with time.
Although he has remained relatively underground in the U.K., the U.S.A. fell hard for Hamilton. After signing with So So Def, Hamilton scored a platinum debut with Comin’ From Where I’m From in 2003. It received a bevy of Grammy nominations. Two years later, he returned with gold-certified sophomore set Ain’t Nobody Worryin’. This set him on course for a successful decade. In 2008 came The Point of It All, which elicited USA Today’s declaration that Hamilton is “one of the genre’s rare singers.” Hamilton won his first Grammy Award in 2009 for his collaboration on Al Green’s You’ve Got the Love I Need. 2011’s fifth studio album Back to Love is another U.S. top 20 hit.
