Rev. Eddie Sneed, currently the pastor of New Salem African Methodist Episcopal Church, is celebrating 30 years in ministry.
During this time of celebration, New Salem will hold a recognition Pastor’s Appreciation with a week-long of evening worship services to be held beginning Monday, September 21, through Friday, September 25, at 7 pm nightly with a fellowship dinner to follow.
This is in recognition of Pastor Sneed and his first year at New Salem as his appointment began last year in October 2014. The members are recognizing his first year anniversary at New Salem.
Rev. Eddie Sneed began his journey in 1972 with his first pastoral appointments at Roxie Chapel and Proctor Chapel, both African Methodist Episcopal (AME) churches, in Culbert, Georgia.
Sneed was later appointed to churches located in Alabama. Then he had a stay in Selma, Ala., Beloit, Ala. and Jackson Ala. as the pastor of Bethel AME.
As a young pastor and minister, Sneed transferred from a job that took him to Nashville, Tenn. as a Reimbursement Specialist for Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) in 1985. Thus, his first appointment in the Nashville area was Williams Chapel AME.
Rev. Eddie Sneed has has several appointments in the Nashville/Davidson County area following his appointments at Winters Chapel in Lebanon, and other churches in Sulphur Springs, Cunningham, and Oakwood,Tennessee.
While serving as the pastor of St. Peter AME, and then Ebenezer AME, St. Luke AME, Sneed worked as a ‘real estate auditor’ for the state of Tennessee.
Following his retirement from the state in June 2013, Rev. Sneed became (and remains) a full-time pastor.
While Sneed has been in ministry for 30 years, he continues to be a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Sneed and his wife, Virginia, recently celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary. They are the parents of two daughters, Tonya and Sabrina; four grand children, Phylicia, Jaylon, Brandon and Lamont; and one great grand daughter, Marleigh.
