Camillia ‘Cami’ Jones, BSW is a modern day, multi-talented lady boss and a heroine to many in need. She is the new service coordinator for the Kelly Miller Smith Tower Apartments (KMST), a Nashville based low income HUD property for disabled and elderly persons.
Off duty, she is a minister, professional consultant and founder/CEO of Walking In Purpose, Inc. a non-profit based Christian ministry. She also runs interactive social media pages and a blog where she keeps her vast audience up to date and shares valuable information and tips with them as well.
The tips may range from couponing to updates in the Gospel music industry to where to go for food, housing, furniture and much needed social service resources. Minister Cami doesn’t do this alone. She works closely with other ministries and networks with other like-minded professionals whenever possible. So far, she has established new programs and services and works ongoing to enhance the existing services.
Her service worker specialty is line off work in geriatric care, and she has enjoyed and grown in that area of human services since 2002. When asked why she chose that particular field her response was fitting.
“I’ve had a passion to help other people since I was nine years old. When I was nine, I was praying with my granddad, and I told him that when I get older and become educated I was going to take care of him. Even back then I heard a calling in my life telling me: ‘Girl, walk in your purpose.’ I didn’t get to take care of granddad, but I have taken care of others and will continue to as long as I can,” said Cami.
She is also a diverse and credentialed entrepreneur with successful businesses under her proverbial wing, from ‘Cami Cakes – Made with Love,’ to her ‘Walking in Purpose, Inc.’ ministry, to her private professional consulting firm ‘Camillia Jones Consultant,’ to a soon to be licensed professional daycare business.
She is also the pastor of Evangelism and Outreach for her church home, Stones River Primitive Baptist Church (Rev. Roger L. Russell, senior pastor), located in Murfreesboro, Tenn. where she resides.
Cami hosts and facilitateshomeless women and children on the third Monday of the month at their church shelter House of H.O.P.E. The evening consists of food, fellowship, life skills as well as the safe overnight shelter. It’s for women and children experiencing homelessness in Murfreesboro.
From the reception Cami has received from the Kelly Miller residents and her new co-workers, it’s clear that it will continue to be a good fit.
