Nashville-Davidson County Sheriff Daron Hall, Davidson County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) and Last Minute Toy Store (LMTS) partnership continued with a “Christmas in July” fundraiser. DCSO personnel, along with United States Marines, were at three locations around town on July 4 accepting new, unwrapped toys and monetary donations. In December, this partnership set a record by serving nearly 5,500 children.
“We are really excited about this continued partnership because of the amazing impact we had on our community this past holiday season,” Hall said. “Sometimes trying to get donations during that time is difficult because people are also trying to buy gifts for family and friends. We thought we would try to celebrate the holidays a few months early and hope those attending July 4th celebrations would be generous during a time when the ‘ask’ is a little unexpected.”
The public can also drop-off at the DCSO Administration Building, 506 Second Avenue North, any time during the month of July.
LMTS President Dale Robble, is looking forward to another successful holiday, but knows to start early is important.
“Every year, the number of children needing help at Christmas grows and that’s why we are getting an early start to filling up our warehouse,” Robble said.
“While you make plans to watch one of the greatest fireworks displays in the country, also make plans to help a less fortunate child by dropping off a new toy or monetary donation.”
