MTAC Lunar lands in Nashville April 19-21

The Middle Tennessee Anime Convention (MTAC), Tennessee’s largest anime convention, kicks off its 19th year this April with a weekend-long extravaganza. MTAC is a celebration of Japanese animation and culture, including costumes, music, gaming, and so much more. This year’s MTAC is titled “MTAC Lunar” to highlight themes of space and the moon found throughout anime and Japanese popular culture. This highly celebrated and eagerly anticipated animation and cultural event enters its 19th year with guests, costumes, workshops, and more!

The event features a spectacular mix of celebrity guests, artists, industry professionals, feature events, professional speakers, fan discussion panels, workshops, Q&A sessions, vendors, contests and more. Notable guests for the event include: Erica Mendez (“KILL la KILL,” “Aggretsuko,”“Seven Deadly Sins.”); Jerry Jewell (“Fruits Basket,” “Case Closed,” “Yuri!! on Ice.”); Josh Grelle (“Yuri!!! on Ice,” “Attack on Titan,” “The Devil is a Part-Timer.”); Kaiji Tang (“Detective Pikachu,” “Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-,” “Shin Megami Tensei.”); Marianne Miller (“Madoka Magica,” “Sword Art Online,” “Fate/Zero.”); Martin “LittleKuriboh” Billany (creator of “Yu Gi Oh: The Abridged Series.”); Trina Nishimura (“Attack on Titan,” “My Hero Acedamia,” “Trigun: Badlands Rumble.”); and The Slants (The world’s first and only all-Asian American dance rock band, featured with Conan O’Brien’s Team Coco, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, NPR, and more.).

MTAC has crafted a unique brand of programming for the entire weekend, including the convention’s signature events: Cosplay Contest, Lip Sync Contest, Otaku Ball, Lolita Tea Party, AMV Contest, Risque Cosplay, Electronic Dance Party, 24-Hour Table-Top and Video Gaming, and dozens of hours of unique presentations throughout the weekend. MTAC also hosts vendors, artists, and crafters for a wide variety of shopping.

The Middle Tennessee Anime Convention is an annual event dedicated to anime, gaming, music, and Japanese popular arts and culture, providing enthusiasts and the public at large with a forum to share knowledge and passion in collective interests. MTAC began in 1999 and operates entirely on a volunteer basis.

MTAC Lunar takes place April 19-21, 2019 at the Sheraton Music City and Embassy Suites Nashville Airport hotels in Nashville, TN.
