“He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgement: A God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is He,” Deuteronomy 32:4.
A story is told of a contractor and customer. The customer expressed concerns about the remodeling of his house, and the contractor replied, “I am doing the best I can in this situation. It is 99% perfect.” The customer smiled and responded, “Perfect is good enough.” But if 99% perfection were good enough, about 2300 checks will be deducted from the wrong bank accounts in the next 60 minutes; three million single-use batteries will be dead upon purchase in the United States this year; 12 newborns will be given to the parents daily; 18,322 pieces of mail will be mishandled hourly; two million documents will be lost by the IRS this year alone; 2.5 million books will be shipped with the wrong covers; 315 entries in the Webster Dictionary will be misspelled; 20,000 drug prescriptions will be written wrong this year; 880,000 credit cards in circulation will turn out to have incorrect card holder information on their magnetic strips; and 103,260,000 income tax returns will be processed incorrectly during the year. Perfection is not 99% but it must be 100% completed and made whole.
God’s work is 100% perfect. Genesis 1 tells us that God created everything, and the chapter ends by saying: “Behold, it was very good.” God even said of Satan: “Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee,” Ezekiel 28:15. If God maintained only 99.9% of the billions of galaxies in the universe, how many millions of star systems would disintegrate? If God governed over only 99.9% of meteorology, how many weather conditions would go beyond His ability to manage? But in all the tornadoes, hurricanes, and other weather events that occur, not one detail escapes His control.
“Oh that men would praise the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!” Psalm107:15. “We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and His strength, and His wonderful works that He hath done,” Psalm 78:4. Even the heathen king of Babylon said: “I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honor the King of Heaven, all whose works are truth, and His ways judgment,” Daniel 4:37.
Today is another opportunity to praise and extol and honor our God of absolute perfection. If 99.9% of souls were only saved, imagine how many would be lost. In all that you do seek the Lord while He may be found and call Him while He is near.
