How do I know if I am resting in Jesus?

‘Resting in’ does not mean to lie down and sleep. Rest means that you are not worried; however, you believe what’s written in God’s word about your situation. You are relying that the words that you say will take care of your needs. While you are at rest, you are praying to God, praising God, giving Him thanks for who He is and saying what He says in the Bible about you and about your situation. You are confident that He will meet your needs. When you rest:

You are not doubting but believing.

You do not believe what you hear, what you see or how your body feels.

You believe that the situation is resolved.

You are confident in God’s ability and in His willingness to accomplish it.

You are relying on God’s wisdom.

You are expecting positive changes and results.

You are constantly in the ‘word,’ quoting scriptures and getting to know God.

You must believe that God is real and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). The words ‘trust’ and ‘believe’ are crucial to your victory. I have also repeated these words many times to show the important role that you have in receiving what you are expecting. You have to take the initiative, for yourself. You have to create an atmosphere that is necessary for your victory—an atmosphere of peace. Create a sin free atmosphere and an atmosphere of expectancy by saying what God says.

God wants all of His children to enter the place of rest (Hebrews 4:10). Rest in Him. Rest in His word, and rest in what Jesus has accomplished for us on the cross.

Make God’s word your final authority. “…casting the whole of your care, all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all on Him. For He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully,” 1 Peter 5:7.
