Faith is the assurance of things hoped for according to Hebrew 11:1. Romans 10:17 says that faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God. Our faith is based upon the promises of God and not on our sensory mechanisms. For we walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). It is our faith that will help us to overcome anything that comes against us. 1 John 5:4 says, “For whoever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world-our faith.

Faith involves action. Faith does not move God, it moves us. Faith is the evidence of things not seen. God forgives us of our sins, because of our faith in Jesus. You must believe that God’s Word contains the solution to your problem. If you believe God has the solution to your problems, take steps to get relief from them.

When God operates by faith, he calls things that are not as though they were (Romans 4:17b). This is what he expects us to do also. We cannot please God without having faith in him and in Jesus’ finished works upon the Cross. Hebrews 10:17, says that it is impossible to please God without faith.

Abraham is a great example of a man of faith. He had faith in God and was fully persuaded that God had the power to do what he had promised (Romans 4:21).

Abraham looked at the things that were not seen (Genesis 13:14-15). He separated from his nephew Lot (Genesis 15:4,5). He hoped in the things which were not seen. He believed that he would become the father of many nations (Romans 4:8).  He spoke what he believed. When God changed his name from Abram to Abraham, people asked him his name and he replied Abraham. He acted on what he believed. He gave glory to God. He circumcised himself and his household (Genesis 17:5) He called his wife Sarah instead of calling her Sarai (Genesis 717:15-16). He walked by faith. He believed God when God told him that he will make his seed as the dust of the earth, arise and walk through the land… “I will give it to you” (Genesis 13:14-18).
