“I’m working on getting better,” said Rev. Enoch Fuzz, continuing his journey with stage four lung cancer, always working on getting better. We know you have read his story for the last several months, however, it is a long and difficult process.
Being diagnosed with stage four lung cancer is something that was completely unexpected like catching COVID 19 during a time when everyone seems to think the pandemic is over. It’s not. Everyone continues to be subjected to the COVID 19 virus and all of its new strands. As citizens with a desperate desire to be ‘over the whole thing,’ we are still at the mercy of COVID’s possibilities. Yet we have learned means of living with the virus as it comes.
The main strategy seemed to be that we would all receive a vaccination and a booster to the vaccination and another booster, along with instructions to wear a mask in certain situations and continue to stay, publicly, some distance apart from others. We should also use the same protocols privately.
Nevertheless, with all the warnings regarding the many dangers we face by overindulgence and other health issues, people continue to get COVID; people continue to become alcoholics; get cancer; overeat and gain weight; become addicted to drugs; and the like. Sometimes these are problems that are self-induced and sometimes they are choices that we make as individuals. As demonstrated by the information on opioid addiction shared for the past weeks, the problem is sometimes not by choice. We choose to eat until our weight is unhealthy; if we have had a problem with smoking or other vices, it is by choice or by formed habits. No matter the case, it can be eliminated by choice.
“I’m working on getting better,” is something that Rev. Fuzz says, possibly to remind himself and to be witness to others that ‘this too shall pass,’ no matter what it looks like. We can make a choice to work on getting better. There are things we can do to ensure that we make moves to improve any situation that we find ourselves in. We ask that you patiently await the information that will be shared on the elimination of opioid addiction by holistic methods.
