This week we ask for special attention as you read thoughts and words directly from Rev. Enoch Fuzz, pastor of Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church:
“May 9 marks one year of doctor diagnosis that I had stage 4 lung cancer and possibly cancer in other parts of my body. It also marks the beginning of an intensive prayer campaign around the nation. It seemed as though people everywhere were praying for my healing. People were praying for me and I was praying for people. One of my scariest moments during this journey was when the doctor told me that they saw some spots on my liver. They couldn’t tell if the spots were malignant and cancerous or not without doing an MRI. Then he said if it’s cancer there’s probably nothing that can be done to extend beyond 15 months to live. I’ll always remember during the MRI praying to God that He couldn’t let all the people down who were praying for me. I remember praying: “Lord there is no way You can get around answering the many people’s prayers for me. When the doctor gave me the negative results from the MRI, I knew God was listening to the many prayers. By the way, negative in the medical field is positive news.
“On this three year anniversary of my Living With Cancer Journey, I need to say ‘thank you’ to Almighty God for His miracle of life; to the tremendous doctors, nurses, and support staff at the Nashville General Hospital; to the thousands of people who pray constantly for my healing; to the members of Corinthian Baptist Church who’ve been the best church members in the whole wide world; to my family, especially my sisters, Neva and Barbara, who have driven from Memphis twice a month over past three years to assist me; to my truly amazing and loving daughter, Bethani; and my dear friend, Shirley, who committed herself to help care for me. And the list of people goes on and on—too numerous to name them all, like Darlene, Amanda, Rev. Croney, Elois, Tony…. Now maybe you see why it’s so important to me to pray for other people. To whom much is given, much is required.”
