Neighbor 2 Neighbor honors Sen. Brenda Gilmore with Lifetime Achievement Award

State Sen. Brenda Gilmore

Neighbor 2 Neighbor will honor Sen. Brenda Gilmore at a breakfast reception on Tuesday, June 27 for her significant and sustained efforts to create safer, healthier, and more vibrant neighborhoods throughout her 30 years of public service. The event, a fundraiser for Neighbor 2 Neighbor, will be held at the Centennial Arts Center beginning at 7:30 am. Advance registration is required.

Sen. Gilmore started her political career serving on the Metro Nashville Council from 1999 to 2007. In 2006, Gilmore challenged and defeated an incumbent for a state House seat. She held the post until 2018 when she was elected to the upper chamber. In 2022, Sen. Gilmore retired from the Senate.

Longtime neighborhood leader, Gina Coleman, remembers well how then Councilwoman Brenda Gilmore worked with her and her neighbors to make the Haynes Park neighborhood a safer place to live. Gina’s neighborhood was filled with drug dealers and other criminal activity. As soon as Gina reached out, Councilwoman Gilmore went to work with Gina and her neighbors to find viable solutions. Over the next few years, the neighborhood saw a significant reduction in crime, and the drug houses were closed.

“This would not have happened without Sen. Gilmore’s strong support and advocacy on our behalf,” Gina said.

Established to honor N2N co-founder, Billy Fields, the lifetime achievement award annually recognizes a Nashvillian who has made a significant and sustained effort throughout their career to preserve and improve local neighborhoods.

Tickets are $100 per person ($50 for students and young adults). For more details and to purchase your ticket, visit: <support.n2n.solutions/reception>.
