Expressions of faith

Bishop-Elect Dr. Monterey D. Lee, Sr.

Who, being in the form or the existence of God, thought it not robbery to be equal [existing] with God? This is having the mindset of God [existing like God]—made himself [Jesus made himself] of no reputation. He emptied out himself [in the Greek ‘Kenos’ means to make empty, to vacate, to deprive, and to relinquish] of His power, His divinity, and His Godhead by assuming the form of a servant. He took upon Himself the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men [humanity], and when He had come as a man, He was like one of us (Philippians 2:6).

Christ was humble. He was modest to the lowest estimate. He humbled himself by being obedient unto death (or to the point of death, even to death) on a cross, dying on a cross.

Jesus Christ was willing to give up for the sake of all mankind, for all humanity.

“When the fullness of time has come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Because you are His sons and daughters, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out Abba, Father. So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are His child, God has made you also an heir,” Galatians 4:4-7.

He humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Crucifixion was the form of capital punishment Romans used for notorious criminals. Prisoners were tied to a cross and left to die. Jesus was nailed to a cross and died as one who was cursed. The curse of sin that had us bound and was on your/our life was so grate that it had us bound to the point of death and hell. Jesus’ death was to remove the curse and free us from sin and the penalty of death and destruction (hell). This is why the curse is over. It’s removed and done away with and we now have new life in Christ Jesus. This is why God has highly exalted Him (Jesus), and given him a name–which is above (higher) than every other name.

At the resurrection and before the ascension of Christ, God gave the highest name to Him and positioned Him in heaven to be seated at the highest. The seat was not a chair; it’s a place of authority. When Jesus said ‘this is the seat that I sit in’ to the disciples, he was saying that ‘I am the Messiah.’ Jesus Christ sits at the right hand of the Father. He’s affirming that He has equal status to the Father within the Godhead. It does not mean that He is setting in a chair.

“Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, cursed is every one that hangs on a tree,” Galatians 3:13.

“The Lord Jesus, after He had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God,” Mark16:19.

“But from now on, the Son of Man shall be seated at the right hand of the power of God,” Luke 22:69.

“God exalted Him at His right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sin,” Acts 5:31.

Jesus is God [Yahweh]. Jesus is salvation, i.e., Jesus/Yahweh saves. Jesus is the rescuer; Jesus is the deliverer; Jesus is the savior. What is His name? Jesus.

Jesus fixes my heart. He is my mind regulator. Jesus is my burden bearer. Jesus is coming soon, and He is my king (Philippians 4:1-9).
