
WFSK, the Fisk University radio station, presents The Fisk Food & Jazz Music Festival 2025 on Saturday, June 28, from 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm. This annual community-wide music festival is family-friendly. The festival is free and open to the public. After nearly 10 years of having the jazz festival there on the Fisk campus, the community always looks forward to attending it and supporting the station.
Admission and parking are free so BYOC (Bring Your Own Lawn Chair and/or Blanket), find your spot, and enjoy the live entertainment, a wide variety of food trucks and a Kid’s Zone with games and fun. Stop by the Mini Health Fair for health information and free screenings. Shop with merchandise vendors. If you’ve never been to one of their Jazz Festivals, you really don’t know what you’re missing. This year’s artist lineup features five phenomenal musicians from all across the country, from Detroit to North Carolina, and from L.A. to Nashville.
Marcus Anderson, Saxophonist, 2X Grammy and Stellar Award Nominated artist is an incredible act and one worth watching. Marcus is the golden child shining among stars. With 18 studio albums on his list of accomplishments and 5 Billboard number 1 ’ s , the fusion jazz artist brings R&B, Pop, Rock and Funk to make music that puts listeners in another atmosphere. Prince featured Marcus on his last release “Hit N Run Phase 2,” playing on “Revelation” and “Look at Me Look at Yo u”.
Lin Rountree, AKA The Soul – Trumpeter, is a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. With a whopping eight solo projects and an impressive 23 chart – topping Billboard singles (including four #1 hits), he has solidified his place as a leading innovator in the Instrumental Soul / R&B genre. Lin’s talent knows no bounds, collaborating with some of the industry’s top R&B / Contemporary Jazz artists.
Carol Albert is recording her 11th Studio Album to be released in 2025, and is performing shows across the US. Her hit “Sunshine Yellow,” featuring Peter White, hit #1 on Billboard Charts and stayed on the Chart for 23 weeks. Her latest single, “Seaside Story,” is climbing the Smooth Jazz Charts into 2025. Her recent albums “Magic Mirror,” “Stronger Now,” and “Fly Away Butterfly” gained national recognition, with three #1 Billboard Hits and 12 Top 10 Billboard Hits.
Andrea Lisa is a musical powerhouse driven by personal experiences and her deep-rooted inspirations. As a singer, guitarist, composer and producer, Andréa’s diverse talents shine through in every aspect of her music. Andréa is a featured artist on Kirk Whalum’s latest album, “Epic Cool,” showcasing her skills on both guitar and vocals. She also contributed an original song, “Love and Healing,” to the project. Previously, she was featured on Whalum’s album “Humanité,” with her song “Get Your Wings Up” selected as the first single.
Tramaine Arte’Mis & The Improv 7 Band. BMI singer, songwriter, and publisher, jazzy, sultry, soulful vocalist Tramaine Arte’Mis is widely known for her tremendous range and expressive vocal talents. She is equally at home in musical theatre, opera, gospel, R&B, smooth jazz and neo soul. Her soaring, expressive voice hints at influences that range from Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughn to Minnie Ripperton, Maysa and so many more.
Absolutely no coolers, alcohol or firearms will be allowed. Handicap parking is available behind WFSK studios in DuBois Hall, at 17th & Jackson Streets. The Festival also includes an Artist Merchandise Area near the stage to take photos, and buy recording artist releases.
