“Happy is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gets understanding. Wisdom is worth more than silver; it brings more profit than gold,” Proverbs 3:13-14.

“Hold onto wisdom and good sense. Don’t let them out of your site,” Proverbs 3:21b.

“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding,” Proverbs 4:7.

Let’s look at the framework of spirituality that gives wisdom versus religion that only caters to one’s emotions.

Spirituality deals with the searching for meaning, purpose, and a sacred trust that one has in God.

Religion on the other hand focuses on a belief that one enters into without a deep understanding of what it really is. Religion is group based and shared within a community. It is a ‘Sunday morning fix’ that says we should go to church on Sunday. Get up and get ready, because this is what we do on Sunday. We share in a community religious atmosphere where the focus is on houses of worship instead of people being spiritually imbued with Biblical knowledge. Houses of worship are built instead of people. The focus is having you  attend church instead of becoming the church. You attend church, but you don’t become the church.

Spirituality focuses on you becoming the church. You cannot attend what you were created to be.

“And upon this rock [you], I will bill my church. And the gates of hell shall not prevail or overcome it.”

You are either The Church or you are just attending church. There’s a difference in spirituality versus religion.

The framework is to build a relationship of spirituality. For spirituality focuses on a lifestyle that truly represents holiness, for God is holy.

“Be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy,” Leviticus 19:2.

“…for it is written: Be holy, because I am holy,” 1 Peter 1:16.

You want some wisdom, don’t you?

“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord,” Hebrews 12:4.

There is a difference between spirituality and religion.

Spirituality build you; religion will tease with you.  Spirituality will give you wisdom; religion will strip it from you. Which do you desire?
