Last Sunday was a beautiful day in every sense of the word. The weather and conditions couldn’t have been better for the grand opening of ‘Salon 618.’ Kenishea Frierson celebrated her dream coming true, with family, friends and supporters. Salon 618 is a full service nail salon complete with a professional eyebrow station and make up options.
The grand opening itself was spectacular, offering strolling (and stationary) guests chocolate covered candied apples, champing and strawberries—and for the ‘non spirit’ consumers, Hawaiian punch. Chips, dip and savory meatballs also added delight to the fanfare. Kenishea brings a great deal of experience to the proverbial table and is fortunate enough to have existing clients follow her to the new salon.
It’s been said time and time again that there is ‘something in a name,’ so we asked Kenishea why the name 618? Those numbers represent her birthday and her grandmother’s home-going date. Before coming into her own, Kenishea worked at various high end salons and learned a great deal from the experiences. She is a dynamic young woman who has overcome a myriad of life challenges and obstacles to achieve this level of success.
Frierson indicated that some of the reasons she opened Salon 618 was to lead by example and empower others. The salon itself is a picture of beauty, well stocked with a rainbow of nail polish colors and shades. Got nail ornaments? No worries. Salon 618 has a wide selection of nail art and jeweled ornaments. Artistry by Kenishea and company ranges from ‘tame’ to ‘walking on the wild side.’ There is something for everyone at Salon 618.
Her clientele consists of both women and men. Even the littlest Divas (ages five and up) hold their hands still for a Salon 618 special painting. The grand opening VIP reception began around noon and continued on throughout the day, followed by a releasing of balloons tribute to Grandmother. Caring for people and entrepreneurism is not new to the Frierson family. Kenishea’s mom is Trina Frierson, cofounder of Mending Hearts, Inc (Charlotte Grant Frierson is the other cofounder) one of the leading substance abuse treatment facilities in Tennessee and beyond.
