Real Fathers, Real Men, a seminar on the issues of fatherlessness, will take place Thursday, April 25 at the Forum located in the Floyd Payne on the campus of Tennessee State University beginning at 7 pm. Free and open to the public, the seminar aims to educate the public on issues of fatherlessness and the effects on children and families. The seminar will consist of a panel of speakers who have experienced fatherlessness or have expertise on the topic.

The seminar facilitator and panelists include Dr. Roosevelt Faulkner, a licensed professional counselor; Freddie Scott II, former National Football League professional who is the author of The Dad I Wish I Had and CEO/founder of Unlock the Champion; Gisele Sadler and her son, Amari Meddling; and Dr. Douglas McGahey, a higher education professional. The panelists will present a discussion of their experiences and perspectives on absentee fathers followed by a question and answer session.

The event is sponsored by students in the Health Care Administration and Planning Student Organization in the Department of Public Health, Health Administration, and Health Sciences at the University enrolled in the HCAP 3900 Technical Writing and Communication course. The seminar is funded by a grant from the New Life Program of the Metropolitan Public Health Department. A drawing for door prizes will be conducted, and refreshments served.
