Brenda Gilmore, Lelan Statom lead community effort in support of ‘Hats Off to Bordeaux’

State Rep. Brenda Gilmore is hosting the fifth annual ‘Hats Off to Bordeaux’ on Friday, July 28 at 11 am at FiftyForward Patricia Hart Building (174 Rains Avenue, 37203).

News Channel 5’s Lelan Statom will be the guest emcee. The event begins with a reception and silent auction at 11 am followed by the luncheon and hat fashion show at noon.

‘Hats Off to Bordeaux’ celebrates the historic community of Bordeaux, just north of Nashville and brings together FiftyForward center members, community leaders and local business partners.

All proceeds benefit FiftyForward Bordeaux in providing active aging programming for the Bordeaux community. FiftyForward Bordeaux offers activities and opportunities for learning and sharing, growth, fitness and socialization.

Center staff provides outreach services to area residential high-rise housing units. Through the Senior Nutrition Program of Metro Nashville Social Services, FiftyForward Bordeaux serves as a congregate meal site to provide meals to members Monday-Thursday. Transportation is available for a limited route in the community and scholarships for membership are also available.

Established in 1956, FiftyForward supports, champions and enhances life for those 50 and older. As a nonprofit operating seven lifelong learning centers (two in Williamson and five in Davidson County) FiftyForward offers educational, health and wellness, arts and volunteer programs to engage older adults.

FiftyForward also provides comprehensive supportive services and access to resources including FiftyForward Adult Day Services, FiftyForward Meals on Wheels as well as the FiftyForward Care Team offering care assessment and services for older adults.

FiftyForward Travel offers adventures (regional and international) and the Senior Center for the Arts and The Larry Keeton Theatre, a subsidiary of FiftyForward, feature performing arts for all ages.
