This year’s Leukemia & Lymphoma Society ‘Light The Night Walk’ helped raise over $1 million for cancer research and patient services. Nearly 5,000 Middle Tennesseans participated in the 18th annual Light The Night Walk Nissan Stadium, hosted by the Tennessee chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and presenting sponsor Sarah Cannon Research Institute.

Over 200 teams participated in the walk, including top fundraisers Charles Esten’s Team Addie, Sarah Cannon, ServiceSource, Vanderbilt University’s Sigma Chi fraternity and Team Annie Rose.

In honor of the event, landmarks around Nashville, including the AT&T Building, Omni, Bridgestone Corporate building, Bridgestone Arena, Metro Courthouse, and the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge, were lit in red.

After the Light The Night event, Charles Esten of the ABC hit show Nashville, whose daughter Addie is a leukemia survivor, headlined the fourth annual Light The Late Night With Charles Esten at the War Memorial Auditorium. One hundred percent of proceeds from the concert went to LLS.

Light The Night Walks are held in more than 200 communities across the United States and Canada. Participants carry illuminated lanterns (white for survivors, red for supporters and gold to remember those who have died) to honor and commemorate lives touched by blood cancer.

The funds raised through corporate and individual contributions help to find cures and better therapies for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and to provide information, education and financial support for patients and their families.
