“In the day of my trouble I will call [cry] upon thee [out to you]: for you will answer me. Among the gods there is none like you, Lord; neither are there any works like your works. All nations that you have made shall come and worship before thee, Lord; and all shall glorify your name,” Psalm 86:7.

David made it plain that the trouble and pain is so great that all he can do is cry out to God, and ask God to preserve his soul and to protect him. When I feel so poor and needy, and need relief, all I can do is acknowledge You God for greatness as I plea and cry. I feel poor and needy. So I will trust in God’s character, mercy, steadfast love, and Superior power over all that is against me. Be it idols or self, I will depend on You to strengthen my faith in times of adversity. You will show grace in my distress.

David highlights God’s character as good, saying  ‘you are a forgiving and loving God. I call on you. I call on God to hear from me, for He will preserve my life, and He showed me grace in my distress.

When you talk about God’s Greatness it’s a personal encounter for our lives. It isn’t enough to acknowledge what God is doing or has done in our lives, but the fact that there is no one like Him. His words and actions have made worldwide impact since the beginning of creation.

In Psalm 66:4, the psalmist calls on the whole earth to worship the Lord. To worship means to bow down—to acknowledge God for everything.

This is why we take time each day to think of Him and thank Him for another opportunity to live a life of praise and worship of Him. His greatness is His awesomeness. My opposition is forcing me to talk to God. What is coming my way is having me to come to God and say, ‘God I need you to act on my behalf.’

When I cry out to God. it is my character asking God for guidance.

  • There is nothing and no one higher in the universe, You are ruler over all.
  • God is Sovereign; He is the Supreme Omnipotent ruler of the universe, possessing absolute authority and control over creation. He has absolute authority: God has the power and the right to do whatever he pleases in heaven and earth.
  • God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. This is a relationship with God and human will, for we are responsible for our actions and choices (John 4:23).

We are impacted by His greatness, because He has absolute rule over all things, with His endless resources. His unimaginable power will do whatever He pleases. He is a King of all, and the One who upholds us.

This is why all nations shall come and worship Him and glorify His name. All the nations God has has made will come and bow down before Him. Lord, I will honor your name.

God promises not to save the nations, but to save His people out of the nations and make them great. God will navigate you through your “valley of the shadows of death.” Praise His character. Ask for guidance. Your raw honesty will move God and take you to a place of worship. You must remain alert, so the urgency of your need for God will move you to a place of declaration—so as to reveal His unmatched greatness. David is making it plain that God will passionately honor His promises.
