Renewal House gives thanks at annual fundraiser

Renewal House started the holiday season early with its festive annual fundraiser, A Women’s Thanksgiving on Nov. 3.

Renewal House, Nashville’s comprehensive, family-centered treatment and recovery community for women and their children, hosted ‘A Women’s Thanksgiving’ Nov. 3 at the Millennium Maxwell House Hotel.
Debbie Miller, assistant commissioner of quality control for the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services, was the guest speaker. Renewal House graduates shared their inspirational stories of new beginnings with guests.

“Thanksgiving can be a difficult time for people suffering from addiction, so we wanted to fill the season with hope for these women and their children,” said Laura Berlind, Renewal House’s CEO.

“We are so thankful to our volunteers, donors and other partners who work tirelessly to raise the funds needed to continue offering substance abuse treatment, prevention and early intervention programs that help break the cycle of addiction.”

Renewal House clients created centerpieces for the event, including a Thanksgiving-inspired feast with desserts by Goldie Shepard. Singer/songwriter Lisa Silver provided the entertainment. The event attracts a sell-out audience of about 300 guests each year.
