Omegas celebrate high school students in the performing arts

Nashville, TN – On Sunday March 16, 2014 Nashville area high school students competed for cash prizes at the Dr. Matthew Kennedy Talent Hunt Extravaganza, an annual celebration of the performing arts. The Talent Hunt was held at Glencliff High School’s auditorium.

The Talent Hunt is a nationally mandated program for Omega chapters worldwide. Elizabeth Kimbrough (St. Cecilia Academy) won the 1st Place award and will compete against other local chapter winners at the 5th District Talent Hunt Contest in Jackson, TN April 3 – 6, 2014. Elizabeth performed the recitation “A Woman Called Truth.”

Winners from the twelve districts will compete on an international level for cash prizes and college scholarships at the Omega Psi Phi Grand Conclave in Philadelphia, PA in July 2014. The Nashville Talent Hunt was named after Omega Psi Phi fraternity member, Dr. Matthew Kennedy who became a member of the fraternity at Fisk University (Eta Psi Chapter) in 1946.
