The Women’s Ministry of Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 New Providence Pass, hosted a prayer brunch on October 11.
Under the theme, ‘Prayer Warriors for God,’ invited guests joined the members and friends of Mt. Vernon for a blessed day of praying and dining.
The guest speaker was evangelist Dana M. Frazier. Frazier is a native of Memphis, Tenn. where she was raised and educated. She is he daughter of the late Bryant Norfleet III and Doris J. Norfleet McDuffie.
Frazier graduated with the class of 1987 from Hamilton High School and continued her education at State Technical Institute at Memphis and graduated Summa Cum Laude where she received an associate bachelor’s degree in ‘office systems technology’ in 1997. She worked over a decade as an executive assistant for the executive vice president of ‘retail banking’ for SunTrust Banks and held other positions in the city of Memphis before her transfer to Nashville. There she assumed the role of executive management assistant to the vice president of ‘industrial marketing and services’ where she is currently employed.
Frazier held a variety of ministry positions during her tenure as a member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, Pillow Street in Memphis under the leadership of the late Rev. James K. Pickens, Sr. and Rev. W. C. Swift.
She was Sunday School instructor, Sunday School secretary and vice president of the usher board.
She later answered her call to preach on July 15, 2007, received her license to preach and was awarded the certificate of ordination on July 19, 2009.
Currently she serves with her husband, Elder Cedric J. Frazier as founding pastors of Anointed Powerhouse of Praise Ministries in Lavergne, Tenn. They are the parents of three children, Ronald, Darrius, and Kayla; and two grandchildren, Jaedon and Zariyah.
“Evangelist Frazier is an anointed, powerful speaker and worship leader who loves to share God’s word everywhere she goes,” according to her biography.
Sister Andrea Richardson led the program. Minister Sherry Brent of Cowan Street Baptist Church led a ‘Prayer For Women of All Ages’; Sister Annie Love of Bakers Chapel CME Church led the ‘Prayer for Homes and Families’; Sister Angela Matthews of Stateland Baptist Church led the ‘Prayer for Church and Community;’ and Sister Kimberly Kimbrough (first lady of First Street Missionary Baptist Church) led the ‘Prayer for Ministers and Spouses.’
Following the specified prayers, praise songs and scripture, Rev. Dana Frazier of First Street Missionary Baptist Church, giving a powerful testimony on the power of prayer, proclaimed the word of God.
“We must know the power we have in prayer,” said Frazier. “When you alone are powerless and a ‘cute’ prayer will not do, you have to know how to go to your ‘prayer closet’ and talk to God.”
Other participants on the program included: Minister and first lady of Mt. Vernon, Rejeaner Joy; Lisa Clay; Angela Ricketts; Jacqueline Martin; Sherryl Cobbs; Daryle Jackson; Elder Rosemary Townsend; and Bishop Willie Joy.
Brunch was served following the program.
