Members and friends of the Bordeaux community met with state Rep. Brenda Gilmore for ‘Walk Bordeaux’ on the morning of October 10.

This overcast day did not stop approximately 50 dedicated Nashville citizens from gathering and walking a mile for a purpose. Gilmore led the walk in an effort to bring awareness to the need for public sidewalks in the Bordeaux community.

This is an extended effort to create a healthier and safe community. “I’m surprised so many came out on such a cloudy day,” said Harry Gilmore.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the fellowship. Walkers left from the Pizza Hut on Clarksville Highway and followed a Metro police escort to the Bordeaux library where they were served lunch (chicken, slaw, baked beans).

“It’s so important that the community is healthy,” said Gilmore. “We want the community to be healthy in all aspects, and sidewalks may encourage them
