There are several authors in the Nashville area that currently have published books in circulation. Some of those authors recently attended the grand opening of Tea Cups & Jewels A Collector’s Shop.
As a collector’s shop, Tea Cups & Jewels (TC&J) has a large collection of old and new books, magazines, albums, etc. that are available for purchase. During the grand opening, books that were written by Nashville authors were one of the featured items of interest. Five of the authors were available for comments and autographs.
“I want people to know that they can come to the shop and take the time to browse at the many collectable items, peruse through the many books, magazines and albums and share their own if they have written, so that others can be introduced to their works as well,” said Geraldine Heath, owner of TC&J. The authors that were present have books available at TC&J.
The authors that attended TC&J grand opening included: Edward T. Kindall, author of A Walk Down Jefferson Street, Barbara-Woods Washington, M.Div., author of Faith of A Mustard Seed: Thoughts on the Use of Faith in Gospels; Tommie Morton-Young, author, historian and publisher of several books, including books about Nashville history and books about ancestry; Marilyn McGee Talbert, author of The Past Mothers; and Emma J. Wisdom author and publisher of approximately 26 books that include romance novels, fiction and non-fiction. Wisdom is the publisher of Post Oaks Publications.
Other local businesses and individuals were invited to attend and represent some of the type of activities and items that may be included at TC&J. Those vendors included: Rose Carrol, with a plethora of specialty baked goods such as banana nut bread with pineapple, banana nut bread with cranberries, old fashioned pound cakes, and many other baked treats that are great for the holidays; Sadora Johnson, displaying a variety of ceramic pieces such as Barack Obama, Titans football memorabilia, and angels—some of which were prize-winners at the Tennessee State Fair competition; Ruth Handy, sharing homemade pecan pralines and chocolate pecan pralines she calls, ‘pecan candy’; and William Young of William, Jr. Computer Consultants displaying a variety of electronic devices, offering simple computer lessons to seniors and sharing information on his ability to repair and service computers in one’s home or business.
Young will be holding a 13-week Basic Computer Concepts class at TC&J beginning in November 2014. Orientation will be held Wednesday, November 5 at TC&J from 1:30-2:30 pm. Those interested may call 615-545-8244.
Tea Cups & Jewels A Collector’s Shop is more than just a store or consignment shop. It has many things to offer in the form of service and a wide variety of specialty and novelty items.
TC&J is located at 3803 N. Hydes Ferry Road. Hours of operation are Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 10 am-4:30 pm.
